Sensory Storytime

On the second Saturday of every month, we host a storytime designed for children ages birth to 10 with Sensory Processing Disorder. During this storytime, the lights are dim and the noise level is low to prevent overstimulation. During each story, children are given fidget tools like fidget spinners, stretchy noodles, or sensory bottles to use. After the stories, children interact with each other during sensory play. Sensory play can consist of sensory bins, sensory walks, or other activities. Our sensory bins often include things like shaving cream, moon dough, rice, or beans along with other themed toys. Although this storytime is designed for children with Sensory Processing Disorder, sensory play is beneficial to all children.
