Labratz – Cool Science in Action

October 19 @ 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm CDT

🟠YOUTH (Grades K-5, Ages 5-10)
October 19, 2024 | 1:30PM – 2:00PM

Explore the fascinating world of states of matter with an unforgettable demonstration of the Power of Dry Ice!

In this hands-on program, kids will dive into the science of solids, liquids, and gases, learning how matter can change from one state to another. With the help of dry ice—frozen carbon dioxide—we’ll uncover the mysteries behind sublimation, the process where a solid turns directly into a gas, skipping the liquid phase entirely.

Why Attend?

  • Interactive Learning: Engage in fun, hands-on experiments that bring science to life.
  • Discover Science: Understand the basic concepts of states of matter and how they apply to the world around us.
  • Exciting Demonstrations: See dry ice in action as we explore the powerful effects of extreme temperatures.

This program is perfect for budding scientists and curious minds. Space is limited, so be sure to register early!

To sign up, please visit the front desk or call the library at 815-942-6880. Come unleash the power of dry ice and see science in action!

Our LabRatz programs are interactive, hands on STEM activities designed to CULTIVATE CURIOSITY in children. Kids will gain a deeper understanding of how the world works with Physical and Life Science topics such as electricity, magnetism, gravity, and botany. Each month we have a different topic and activity to reinforce the science concept.
