Groundbreaking Ceremony – May 12, 2025

On the evening of May 12, 2025, we officially broke ground on the long-anticipated building expansion. The 6PM ceremony marked the beginning of a project that will add a 106 capacity meeting room with lots of natural light and improved access for all patrons to the library, furthering our mission to cultivate curiosity, enlighten the mind, and strengthen the community.

Library Director Resa Mai led the ceremony, joined by members of the Morris Area Public Library Board, and numerous members of the community. “This new meeting space will provide our community with room to gather, collaborate, and grow,” said Mai. “We’re proud to be building not just for today, but for the future of Morris.”

The expansion is made possible through a generous endowment from Richard M Coulthard, and construction will be completed by Narvick Brothers Construction. The architectural design is being led by Studio GC Architecture + Interiors who will also be managing the project through completion.
