Restore Your Well-Loved Discs!

If your CDs, DVDs, or video game discs are scratched or damaged, the Morris Area Public Library is here to help with our Disc Cleaning and Repair Service. For just $1 per disc, library cardholders can take advantage of our resurfacing process to clean and repair your discs, bringing them back to life!

What We Can Clean and Repair:

We offer cleaning and repair services for a variety of disc formats, including:

  • DVDs (Single or Double-Sided)
  • CDs (Data or Music)
  • Blu-ray
  • Video Game Discs (Wii, PS2, Xbox, PS3, PC Games)

How It Works:

  1. Drop Off Your Discs: Bring your scratched or damaged discs to the library. Our library staff will help you through the drop off process.
  2. Disc Cleaning & Resurfacing: Our EDR EcoAutoSmart machine will gently resurface your discs, removing light scratches and imperfections. This will help restore the most discs to a playable state.
  3. Pick Up: After your discs are repaired, our library staff will contact you to let you know they are available for pick up.

What We Do:

Our service uses the EDR EcoAutoSmart machine, an industrial-grade resurfacing machine, that gently removes a thin layer from the damaged surface of your disc to eliminate scratches and imperfections. This process is designed to make your disc playable again. We can repair most minor scratches caused by normal wear and tear, but deep cuts, dents, or cracks may not be repairable.

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Not all damage can be repaired. Severely damaged discs, such as those with cracks or deep gouges, may not be able to be resurfaced.
  • The cleaning and repair process is non-refundable and costs $1 per disc.
  • Blu-ray, PS3, and PS4 discs can be resurfaced but may still show some visible scratches after the repair. However, this should not affect their functionality.

Processing Limitations:

  • Commercial orders are not accepted.

Important Notes:

  • Discs are cleaned on a first-come, first-served basis and may take 7-10 days to process. Our library staff will inform you when your discs are ready to be picked up.
  • Discs not picked up within 30 days will be considered a donation to the library and may be discarded or destroyed.
  • The library does not guarantee the playability of a disc after it has been repaired, although results are typically good to excellent.

Visit the library today to restore your CDs, DVDs, and game discs to their former glory!
