Community Afterschool Showcase Shines During Downtown Trick-or-Treat

The Morris Area Public Library was thrilled to host the Community Afterschool Showcase during this year’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat event on Thursday, October 30, 2025! 🎃

This special evening was part of the national Lights On Afterschool initiative, which celebrates the vital role afterschool programs play in supporting children, families, and communities.

Families who stopped by enjoyed meeting representatives from a variety of local organizations including the YMCA, 4-H, dance and sports programs, the Boy Scouts, and the Girl Scouts. They all shared information about opportunities that keep kids active, curious, and learning beyond the school day.

Guests also enjoyed free hot dogs and bottled water (while supplies lasted) as they explored the showcase and joined in the fun. It was a fantastic evening filled with community connection and Halloween excitement!

This event was made possible by the Community Foundation of Grundy County, whose support helped bring together families and organizations dedicated to helping youth thrive.
