We invite families to celebrate the joy, creativity, and wonder of childhood during Children’s Day on Saturday, August 1, 2026!

This free, family-friendly celebration will feature stories, activities, crafts, and opportunities for families to connect and create memories together. Whether you join us for one activity or spend the day celebrating with us, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

A Day Full of Family Fun

🌳 Storytime in the Park

10:00 AM | Chapin Park

Children’s Day will begin with a special Storytime in the Park at Chapin Park featuring a guest reader from the Morris Fire & Ambulance District. A Morris firefighter will share Fire Chief Fran by Linda Ashman, while library staff lead favorite storytime songs, movement activities, and interactive fun.

Following storytime, families are invited to join a celebratory parade from Chapin Park to the Morris Area Public Library, where the fun will continue!

🎨 Children’s Day Activities at the Library

After the parade, families can enjoy a variety of hands-on activities at the library, including crafts, sidewalk chalk art, and creative activities designed to inspire imagination and self-expression.

🧩 Sensory-Friendly Storytime

11:00 AM | Morris Area Public Library

Children of all abilities are invited to enjoy a welcoming, sensory-friendly storytime featuring stories, songs, and a small craft. This program provides a comfortable environment where children and families can participate at their own pace.

🎬 Family Movie & Craft

1:30 PM | Morris Area Public Library

Wrap up the celebration with a family-friendly movie and a themed craft activity. Relax, enjoy a fun film, and create something to take home!
