Use this time to write- write a story, write poems, or even write your essays!

Veteran’s Day & Recent Conflicts Revisited
   Tuesday, November 7, 6 p.m.
Members of the Coal City VFW will tell their personal stories serving during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Crisis. As Ron Hibler explains, war isn’t all “Saving Private Ryan.” Twenty percent of those involved are in combat, while eighty percent are support. VFW Commander Charlie Brown will give a power point presentation about his role during the Cuban Crisis. Billie Bomba and Ron Hibler will share slides, stories, and mementos from the time they spent doing the carpentry, mechanical, and construction work that went on every day during the American involvement in the Vietnam War.

Veteran Gratitude Letter Writing
   Thursday, November 9, 4:30 p.m.
Spend some time writing a thank you letter for veterans of the United States military. This is an all-ages event.

Anime Club
    Thursday, November 16, 4:30-6 p.m.

Project Linus Blanket-making
   Wednesday, December 20, 5:30 p.m.
Make blankets for Project Linus! Project Linus is a non-profit organization that aims to provide home-made blankets to children in need. New, handmade blankets will be collected and delivered to seriously ill and traumatized children ages 0-18. Time spent making blankets at this program will count as volunteer hours. We will also accept donations of materials to be used for blankets.

DIY Card Making
    Thursday, December 21, 4:30 p.m.
This DIY is open to all ages.

Teen Lock In
    Friday, December 29, 6 p.m.
Registration and a completed permission form are required. Play games, eat snacks, and much more!

Using the Library
The Teen & Young Adult Area of the library has fiction books for 6-12th grade reading levels, along with graphic novels, and magazines. Young adult non-fiction books are shelved with the adult non-fiction books. Teen & young adult books are tagged with either a “YA” (suitable for grades 6+) or “Teen” (suitable for grades 9+) sticker on the spine.

Computer Use
Teens ages 11-18 may access library computers with a completed parental permission form on file. These forms are available at the Circ Desk at the library.

Library Cards
Until age 18, parents must apply for a card on behalf of their children. Parents must reside in the Morris Area Public Library District. When applying for a minor’s library card, parents must provide two forms of current id (including a photo ID).
