New Non-Resident Fees Scheduled

The Morris Area Public Library Board of Trustees approved the FY11 non-resident card rate of $97 per family, effective September 1, 2010.  Non-resident cardholders may register or renew their accounts before September 1 at the current rate of $93 per family.

Non-resident cards may be made available for those living outside the boundaries of any library district, including the Morris Area Public Library District.  The rate is based on a formula selected by the State of Illinois and determines the average property tax levied by the library for each household within the district.

For more information about non-resident cards, please call the library at (815) 942-6880.

Kaleidoscope collection on display at Library

Kaleidoscope image

A Kaleidoscope is a tube of mirrors containing loose colored beads, pebbles, or other small colored objects.  The viewer looks in one end and light enters the other end, reflecting off the mirrors.

Long-time Morris Area Public Library friends, Herb and Joyce Hain have been kind enough to share with us their collection of kaleidoscopes.  Their collection consists of the most simple pieces to elaborate units that hardly resemble a traditional kaleidoscope.

Intermixed throughout the kaleidoscopes are some of Joyce's many handcrafted necklaces.  Some of Joyce's jewelry pieces incorporate Herb's woodcrafting.  Both Herb and Joyce have been recent winners in the Grundy County Corn Festival Art Show for their work.

If you would like to have your collection displayed in one of the library cases, please visit the library or phone at 815-942-6880.
